Installation of the systems

For the anchorage of ventilated facade cladding on the subsurface there are several possible solutions. We describe what the craftsman has to look for when selecting. For rear ventilated facades additional clothing material is placed before a space-enclosing outer wall. In the cavity that accrues between façade cladding and existing outer wall, in most cases a mineral fire-insulation layer mounted, in any case, there remains a gap of at least two inches air gap. Through this façade type it provides for various structures – in addition to the extensive design options – with the option of a physical-build opportunity to improve the thermal insulation of a building.

Substructure as a link

To realize this facade structure, is a substructure as a static connector necessary. Due to numerous factors there are miscellaneous versions. In the following the relevant factors are described clarify.

In almost unlimited diversity are used for façade cladding a large number of materials such as aluminum and aluminum composite, fiber cement and porcelain tiles, HPL and fiber-reinforced resin composite panels, bricks, ceramics and clothing items from steel, copper, titanium zinc, glass fiber reinforced concrete, slate and wood, etc. in different sizes and shapes and types of mounting (screwed, riveted, clamped, glued, anchorages hook attachment, staples or nails and rear undercut, etc.). All these variants require - not least because of the different weights of the cladding - a special substructure solution.

The requirements are for non-regulated construction products to the specifications of the general type approval of the cladding, by regulated construction products from the results of the static calculation of the cladding and its attachments and in some of the facade cladding proven craft rules.

Factor: Winds loads

The substructures of rear ventilated facades must statically be so dimensioned that they resist in addition to the transfer of the weight of the façade cladding above all, the wind loads.
Since begin of 2007, is in Germany a new wind load standard DIN 1055-4 (version March 05) valid. According to this standard is for each façade the wind load to identify.
It plays an important role, especially the location of the building (wind load zone, terrain category, exposed location), the dimensions of the building (floor plan, building height) and the type of the facade (wind permeable or closed). The results of the wind load calculation are object-specific wind pressure and wind suction; where on a building (facades) often areas arise with different wind loads. After the cladding and their mounting method supplied one first definition of the possible substructure, receive them via the object-specific wind load an additional variance.  This affects the selection of the profile cross-section, the distances of the carrier profiles and the number of required anchorage. Mounted in which distance from the cladding of existing exterior wall will be obtained by the thickness of the insulation, according to the standard (DIN 18516-1) minimum cross section of the rear and additional design options of the architect. Since there are multiple possibilities here and at the same time compensate for construction tolerances, are the carriers profiles are usually not directly anchored to the wall, but elevated on the wall holder. The anchoring on subsurface

The wall bracket is anchored with approved anchors to the existing exterior wall. For the different materials of the outer wall but differ in the allowable pull-out values of the dowels. The allowable loads of plastic anchors vary its depending on size and anchor base, between 150-1800 Newton (N). A precise definition of the anchoring ground is essential for determining the substructure. Often object trials are needed to train for the type masonry anchors the allowable load to be determined.
